Reestablishment of the APPG on San Marino at the British Parliament

It is with great satisfaction to announce that on the 5th of December 2024, Consul Bragagni and the Consulate’s staff took part in the reestablishment meeting of the APPG on San Marino.

This remarkable event was made possible thanks to the dedicated service of Cav Andrew Rosindell MP, who established and chaired the group during the previous legislature of the British parliament. During his opening remarks, he mentioned the important work of the group in fostering bilateral political and economic relations and put emphasis on the similarities between the two countries.

Consul Bragagni thanked Cav Andrew Rosindell MP and the former members of the group for their meaningful support to the causes of the Republic and highlighted the Award of Order of San Marino to the late Queen and the signing of the bilateral agreement on avoiding double taxation, as two cornerstones of previous engagement of the APPG in promoting the best interest of the Republic of San Marino in the UK.

Welcoming the new members of the group, and wishing them successful work, he invited them to visit San Marino and learn more about the great traditions and history of the oldest democracy in the world. In recognition of the great work and achievements of the APPG on San Marino, Consul Bragagni awarded the APPG group the special medal commemorating the 300 Anniversary of the Order of St Agatha.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on San Marino is set to make a significant comeback in British parliamentary circles. This group, initially established on July 1, 2020, aims to strengthen the relationship between the UK and the Republic of San Marino, one of the world’s oldest republics.

The APPG brings together cross-party parliamentarians from both Chambers of the UK Parliament who share a common interest in fostering economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties between the two nations. With a focus on practical initiatives and exchange programs, the group seeks to bolster San Marino’s integration into broader international frameworks while fostering understanding and cooperation between lawmakers of both nations.

The executive members of the Group are:

Chairman – Andrew Rosindell M.P. (Conservative Party)

Vice Chairman – Lord Brady of Altrincham (Conservative Party)

Vice Chairman – Frank McNally M.P. (Labour Party)

Vice Chairman – Alison Taylor M.P. (Labour Party)
