On January 27, 2025, Consul Prof Maurizio Bragagni Esq OBE, participated in the Reception for the Diplomatic Corps held at the historic Speaker’s House within the Palace of Westminster. This distinguished event provided a unique platform for diplomats to engage in meaningful dialogue on pressing international affairs.
Speaker’s House, the official residence of the Speaker of the House of Commons, is renowned for its architectural grandeur and historical importance. The residence includes notable features such as the Grand Staircase, the Crimson Drawing Room, the State Dining Room, and the State Bedroom. These spaces have witnessed numerous significant events in British political history.
During the reception, the Consul had the honour of meeting with the Speaker of the House of Commons, The Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, HE Ivan Romero-Martinez, the Chairman of APPG on San Marino, Mr Andrew Rosindell MP and various ambassadors. The Dean, a position traditionally held by the longest-serving ambassador in the United Kingdom, is significantly contributing to diplomatic life in London and has participated in a number of events organised by the Consulate of San Marino in London.
The reception provided an invaluable opportunity for the Consul to engage with top diplomats to promote San Marino and discuss pressing global issues. Topics such as international security, economic cooperation, and climate change were at the forefront of conversations.
