Coronavirus situation update

The Honorary Consulate of San Marino wishes to draw the attention of San Marino citizens resident in the UK that on 22 February, the government of Italy introduced extraordinary measures that allow regions to implement civil protection measures in response to Coronavirus.

This includes the isolation of 10 small towns in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo’ Euganeo). The regions of Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piemonte and Emilia Romagna have announced measures that include the suspension of events that include meeting in public or private places, the suspension of schools and higher education and the suspension on the opening of museums and other cultural institutions for seven days. Latest figures report 88 cases in Lombardy, 24 in Veneto, 6 in Piemonte, 9 in Emilia Romagna and 2 in Lazio (as of 23 February).

If you’re already in the affected regions, follow the instructions of local authorities in LombardyVenetoFriuli Venezia Giulia,  Piemonte or  Emilia Romagna (in Italian).

Advice for travellers on preparing for a trip and reducing the risk of exposure to the novel coronavirus is available on the TravelHealthPro website. Further advice is available from Public Health England.

Those entering the UK from areas quarantined by the Italian authorities – 10 small towns in Lombardy and one in Veneto – should follow the guidance, even if they do not have symptoms.

People returning from the wider region – anywhere north of but not including Pisa, Florence and Rimini – who do have flu-like symptoms must also self-isolate.
