San Marino is a parliamentary republic, with legislative power vested in the 60-member unicameral parliament, the Great and General Council, directly elected for a five-year term. The government, the State Congress, consists of a maximum of ten Ministers appointed by the parliament from among its members and is coordinated by two Captains Regent who serve jointly as the Head of State for six-month terms.
On June 9, 2024, San Marino conducted General Elections. 8 parties registered to participate with 38,338 voters. The voter turnout was 50.7%, and the results are as follows:
Christian Democratic Party of San Marino (PDCS)- 22 seats
Free (Libera) – Socialist Party (PS)- 10 seats
Future Republic (RF)- 8 seats
Party of Socialists and Democrats (PSD)- 8 seats
Tomorrow – Motus Liberi- 5 seats
Reformist Alliance (AR) – 4 seats
R.E.T.E. Citizens’ Movement – 3 seats
