It is with great satisfaction to announce that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has awarded the Officer of the British Empire (OBE) to Dr Maurizio Bragagni, Honorary Consul, with motivation “For Business and voluntary political service”.
This prestigious award was based on the recommendation by the UK Prime Minister on the advice of the independent Main Honours Committee, following a separate assessment process.
Created during the First World War in 1917 by George V, nowadays, the Order of the British Empire is the Order of chivalry of British democracy. Valuable service is the only criterion for the award, and the Order is now used to reward service in a wide range of practical activities outside the civil service. It is excellent recognition for the Order recipients that they have gone above and beyond the call of duty in either paid or unpaid roles and benefited others through their work or achievements, wherever in the world they may be.
This award is a recognition of outstanding work done by Dr Bragagni, not only as a businessman but most importantly, as Honorary Consul of San Marino to the UK. It demonstrates the profound and positive impact on UK citizens at home or abroad, and it brings distinction to the friendly relations between the UK and San Marino.
This award recognises Dr Bragagni’s so far achievements and surely will further motivate him to advance the excellent work in progress in promoting and protecting the best interests of San Marino and its citizens in the UK.
